As a wedding photographer in Maryland, I get to see a lot of different environments for weddings! This wedding showcased portraits in a grassy field by a barn, a bright airy Eastern Shore church and a reception on the Chesapeake Bay. Get ready, this is going to be a blog post with a lot of photos because the bride is a high school friend! It was such a pleasure to shoot Alison’s marriage to Stephen! I had a ton of fun on this wedding with my sister Rebecca as sidekick (who also was in high school with us and knew a few of the bridesmaids too – you can imagine how fun this was).
Alison got ready at the home of her longtime friend Tiffany (who was one of my college roommates). It was a great spot for all the girls to get ready and I loved watching Alison see herself in the mirror for the first time as a bride! Then we moved over to a fun field nearby and shot the most gorgeous portraits! Alison is a natural! We left there to go see her dad. This was a bittersweet time. Alison lost her mom last year to cancer and there were some tender moments there at their house. Grabbing a photo of Alison with her mom on her wedding day was possible when I saw the photograph of her mom AS A BRIDE on the wall!! I could not believe how much she resembled her mom! It was a sweet teary moment and when I learned that she would also have a piece of her mom’s lace wrapped around her bouquet.
Stephen was such an awesome groom! He was genuinely excited when he saw Alison come down the aisle to him. They chatted in a cute way during parts of their ceremony and were totally focused on each other the whole time. They practically ran down the aisle in joy! Since October in Maryland is so unpredictable, what had been a nice warm sunny day before the ceremony had turned into quite a windy chilly early evening by the time we arrived at Swan Harbor. We shot some brief portraits out on the water and later returned when the sun was setting. The dance floor was full all night and I loved watching Stephen in the middle of all the ladies often. Checkout their gorgeous cake from The Cake Courtesan and the amazing flowers by Flower Follies! All of their vendors are listed after the photos. Congrats Alison and Stephen!!!
I asked Alison and Stephen a few questions and here are their responses:
