Amanda & Brian | Sandy Point State Park Engagement

Amanda and Brian are a patient couple. We had to reschedule their engagement session. Twice. Once for super chilly, windy rain and another time for blah rain. That’s Maryland for you. But we all agree that their wedding day will probably be gorgeous because all their rain has already come. They are getting married at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in August and wanted a beach themed engagement session. Sandy Point State Park is a happy mix of beach areas, the Bay and the Bay Bridge, as well as forest areas. I love shooting engagement sessions because they give me a chance to get to know couples. I typically talk with brides much more than grooms and often grooms are apprehensive about spending almost 2 hours taking pictures. Once we complete a session, the grooms are sold. Brian told me how surprised he was at how much fun we had during the session – which was great to hear! I really enjoyed watching him adore Amanda during the session. She could snuggle right into him and it just seemed right. They are natural together in front of the camera and I can’t wait for August!

Amber & Taylor | Cold Saturday Farm Wedding

Pete and I have watched Taylor grow into such a stellar young man as he came through youth ministry and went on to college. We had had the pleasure of doing marriage prep sessions with him and Amber this past year and were thrilled to witness their sweet wedding. I actually attended as a guest and not photographer, but just could not resist bringing my gear with me to shoot a bit. Pete officiated and I kept my lens trained on Taylor as he saw his bride Amber for the first time as she came down the aisle. He will probably kill me for posting these images, and there were about 6 more, but I have to share with you how intensely overcome he was with joy when he saw her. Taylor and Amber take marriage seriously. This is it – life with each other. They have been intentional from the get go about keeping their marriage centered on Christ and guarding it close. So his emotions came to life as she walked to stand by his side forever. I teared up as did most other women in the crowd. It was one of those super intimate moments you actually get to witness. Pretty cool.

I loved catching Amber checking out her new wedding band and capturing them sitting and enjoy the moment. Can you believe the swings? They were right next to the cornhole and horse shoes area that the guests were enjoying. The wish lanterns at the end of the night were a fun surprise. If you are planning to release wish lanterns at your wedding, I suggest you do it the minutes right after sunset – in that dusky blue light. If you wait too much longer, the sky will be mark darker. And yes, that is a flock of geese flying north by the string of lights… seriously – a perfect day. I don’t have many detail photos since I actually was enjoying the wedding with my DATE 🙂 but I will say that Amber pulled off the most perfectly balanced lacy feminine details paired with natural masculine rough wood elements throughout the fine details of the day. Congratulations Amber and Taylor. We love you!

PS – more images to come from this incredible new venue. Taylor and Amber were the 2nd wedding held there, and it is in my backyard! Yay for close venues!

Holly & Jesse | Diner Engagement Session

Holly and Jesse are that quirky couple that comes along every once in a while and is a photographer’s dream. They are spunky, lively and have their own DNA that is just… unique. I love that Holly and Jesse have their own thing going and seem the be the most unbelievable match for each other. Holly is copyright lawyer (perfect contact, right???) and Jesse deals in real estate auctions all over the country. A bright, young professional couple, but beneath their witty exterior is a giggly couple totally in love with each other – and totally game for creative, out of the box ideas. Finger puppets have a special meaning to these two and they brought them along as props. In fact, the diner as engagement session was their idea! The spot of their first date, so why not? We had a blast shooting at the Silver Diner in Laurel and then at the park behind it. the waitresses in the diner could not stop staring at this cute couple shooting in the corner! Holly and Jesse – I had a blast and look forward to September!
