Jen & Mike’s Wedding Details
(view their engagement blog post)
This wedding is special to me because the bride is my childhood best friend!!! From 2nd grade until I moved away for 8th grade, Dori was my bestie. To reconnect with her on Facebook a few years ago was a treat, but to be able to shoot this intimate wedding was a treasure! I even got to see 2 others friends from elementary and middle school at the wedding!! Thank God for Facebook!

Kelly & Wayne’s Wedding Details

Kelly and Wayne are getting married tomorrow!!! I realized I never posted their engagement session and so I’m doing so at the eleventh hour because I love this session so much! I love shooting in Carroll County, Maryland because of the open space and old rustic barns. They are such a sweet couple and naturally great on camera! Can’t wait to photograph their big day tomorrow at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club!
This wedding is near and dear to my heart. It speaks of love after loss and God’s amazing grace. You see, the groom in this wedding is my head pastor. He has been since I was 15. I have known him for 20 years. He married Pete and I. Pete has worked with him at our church for the past 14 years. And we just met his bride this year. You see, Tim lost his wife Lara to cancer a few years ago. It was a horrible sadness our church walked with Tim and Lara. It is hard to watch anyone go through that, let alone your head pastor’s family. Then to see him as a single dad for these past years and wonder with him if he would ever be able to love again. But God is good… and always has a plan.
Alice was on the Eastern Shore living the same story. She too had lost her husband to cancer. In fact, the same exact cancer that Lara had. The odds are something like 20 people in a million get it. What are the chances that these two would fall and love and marry? I don’t believe in chances. I believe in a God who is good and can redeem the bad, the hurt and the pain.
What is exciting about this whirlwind romance is that Tim and Alice have known each other since childhood. They grew up on the same small island in Maryland. There were sparks then, but as life goes on and college carries you away, things get complicated and grow distant. Both Tim and Alice went on with their lives and had fantastic families with their spouses whom they loved more than anything. We will never forget Lara and James. God chose to bring them back together after tragic circumstances and rekindle an old flame.
I have loved watching their romance. Alice is new to our church family, and we welcome her with open arms. She is a great fit and we love that she loves Tim! I was honored when they asked me to capture their wedding day. I knew it would be a bit of a crazy affair with lots of folks coming from many areas and parts of each of their pasts. Such an exciting moment! So I asked if they would consider having some time alone before the ceremony for photos and a time to pause before the day got underway. I love these moments alone with a couple because the bride can truly enjoy her groom’s expression when he sees her in her dress for the first time. Tim and Alice were so much fun during this session!! They had time to pray and embrace and ham it up for the camera!
One of the best parts of this wedding for me was that my husband Pete got to officiate it. It was like coming full circle. Now Pete was marrying Tim to Alice. The service was a combination of singing praises to God, thanking Him in prayer, Pete teasing Tim and Alice and beautiful handwritten vows with their children on stage with them. You can see their joy busting through. Alice was laughing and smiling the entire ceremony and Tim was beaming. I love how the congregation came tougher to pull this off so quickly! I love that 2 of Tim’s kids are in our high school ministry and that one of Alice’s sons is now becoming a youth leader with us.
Congrats Tim and Alice!!
