Spring time Maryland { Life In Focus } Photo Learning Parties

I am excited to announce that I have renamed my photography workshop for beginners and will be hosting a Learning Parties in the Maryland area! After the events of Newtown, I have decided to rename my workshops from “I Shoot My Kids” (which just doesn’t have the cute ring to it anymore) to “Life in Focus” Learning Parties! I will still be offering the same style of workshop and content geared at beginning shooters. I have done 15 workshops and I am so excited to meet more of you for some great hands on learning! Reply in the comments if you are interested in a workshop and if a weekday, weeknight, or weekend if better for you, as I am trying to set the spring schedule. Or you can email me at kim (at) kimberlybrooke (dot) com for more details!

Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Bridal Show 2013 | Intrigue Design & Decor and 2Hands Studios

This post about the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Bridal Show features the designers that I shared a room with. Inspired by the classic fairytale Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, Intrigue Design and Decor transformed the Beach House Ballroom. Recent popularity of fairytales in the media sparked by movies and shows, such as Mirror Mirror and Once Upon a Time, has increased the number of fairytale inspired weddings and these gals nailed it.

Set in the Beach House Ballroom, Intrigue and 2Hands Studios created a chic and modern twist with five unique displays. Allyson and Jill of 2Hands set a vintage living room display begins the fairytale by setting the scene where a bride first meets her prince. The vignette provided a space for brides mingling to sit and absorb the show. Chipping paint doors, lace doily covered paper lanterns and window frames graced the space. Check out the place cards hanging on the shutters. Hand stenciled pillows and chalkboard painted silver serving trays completed the look. They also created a romantic bedroom, designed for a princess, where brides could envision themselves preparing for a fairytale ball. Their attention to detail is amazing and I LOVE their vintage look and feel!

Sarah and Melissa of Intrigue created a rustic Seven Dwarfs’ table and a deep colored honeymoon table inspired by the Evil Queen and following spring décor tips. I can definitely see the garnet and purples against black fitting well with a fall or winter evening wedding. The Seven Dwarfs’ table had pomegranates with a little paper ribon that said SW <3 PC  (Prince Charming). It was my favorite vignette in the room! I loved the rustic feel and all the green colors. For the true fairytale bride, she could imagine dining at their whimsical Snow White table display, which set the tone for the fairytale in the center of the room. It was stunning! You could not miss the tiered tables with crystal Chiavari chairs donning large tissue paper flowers, covered in white and silver linens with delicate glassware and mirrors and candles. A curling drape of white hydrangea blooms flowed along the table and draped to the floor. It was breathtaking!   We love Pinterest, and feel free to pin, but please give credit where credit is due! Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Bridal Show 2013 | Allison Barnhill Designs & Flower Follies

There are just some bridal shows that are visual feasts and a photographer’s dream land. The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Bridal Show is that show. Wedding vendors come together to collaborate and design styled vignettes that are amazing inspirations for brides. Allison and Cynthia of Allison Barnhill Designs and Flower Follies have outdone themselves AGAIN in 2013! If you missed the images from last year’s show, click here.

This year the girls went with a French Country Glam feel and Katherines Bridal Boutique. I LOVE the pairing of these deep fuschia and purples with bright pinks and lace against the warmth of wood and black toile. The deep pink glitter provided the “glam.” The simplicity of the design really let the special details pop – like the ribbon streamers on the back of all the PINK chaivari chairs, and the beautiful flowers spilling out of the vintage trunk.

For the paper, they printed on birch wood veneer and layered it on a deep berry stock.  They created a custom monogram, inspired by the large glitter adorned R and C that hung in the middle of the oversized clock.  Every monogram used in the paper, was covered with glitter as a unifying element.  Toile gave it the French feel. The glimmering purple mercury glass and hobnail votives added the perfect feminine touch to contrast the rustic branches and wood elements.
I am taking a stab at the flower names because Cynthia is under the weather and I am not going to stress her out right now over flower names. So when she corrects me I will update this post!!!  YAY! Cynthia is better and has given me some better names! Check out the crazy dyed purple and pink reindeer moss on the  tall votive candle with crystals and the S’mores box! UNBELIEVABLE!
Cynthia of Flower Follies selected girly, frilly flowers for a simple unpretentious design – fuchsia anemones, peonies, stock, ranunculus, and chrysanthemums, deep purple carnations and stock, lavender orchids, white lace flower, fuchsia Purple Cezanne roses, and last but, not least the gorgeous cream and light pink Esperance rose whose true beauty is only revealed if you reflex their petals.  She bows to the fuchsia dyed reindeer moss for being such a lovely accent and compliment to the overall design and for being such a cool element of “what is that”?
She contrasted the classic black wrought iron urns with fuchsia mercury glass and punk rock purple studded glass vases for the tablescape arrangements.  And, yes, the glittered sticks just made it all the more glam!   From the “tree” she suspended French crystal pendants and silvery mercury glass votives with thin black lace adorned with a fuchsia flower bloom – for a French boudoir look!  Single flower blooms were featured in vintage glass bottles (dug those up from her yard as a kid!) and a profusion of blooms intertwined with ivory lace spilled from hey great grandmother’s trunk accented with a toile background for Allison’s lovely place cards.
Cake Courtesan provided the lovely and amazing gold fondant cake wrapped in ivory french doilies.
